Early Learning and Child Care Directory
Child Care Service Map Search

The Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Directory is a searchable, map-based database of all regulated child care services including child care centres, family child care homes, and family child care agencies in Newfoundland and Labrador. It includes all family resource centres and associated satellite locations which can viewed by clicking on the "Family Resource Centres & Satellites" sidebar link, as well as current Violation Orders issued to child care centres within the last 90 days. Current Violation Orders can be found by using the "Current Child Care Centre Violations" sidebar link. You can search the ELCC Directory by route, by community, and by your child's age. You can also search for specific child care centres by using the "Child Care Centres by Name Search" sidebar link.

On the map below, Child Care Centres (CC), Family Resource Centres (FR) and Satellite Locations (SL) are pinned by address, while Family Child Care Providers (FC) are grouped by community. Clicking on a specific pin provides additional information. Pins for each service type can be removed from the map by clicking on the checkboxes to the right of each service type, which will remove the checkmark, thereby removing those pins from the map.

Clicking on a pin opens a box about the service - more information about the service may be accessed by clicking "more details". In the "more details" section a child care centre may be noted as receiving an operating grant.

Clicking on "add to short-list" allows you to keep a list of quicklinks for services you are interested in - the short-list is for your current session only and may be accessed by clicking on "My Shortlist" in the menu bar to the left.

Geographic area can be searched using the zoom features on the map (vertical +/ - bar, and/or direction arrows), or using the Route or Community search options on the right side of this page. Zooming in will also ensure that you see all pins for s specific area - in areas where there are a number of pins some pins may "hide" behind others unless zoomed in.

The Operating Grant Program (OGP) is a key component of the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. The OGP helps to address the affordability of child care services for families with young children throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Where a child care service chooses to participate in the OGP, the Provincial Government provides an operating grant to compensate for lost revenue, based on average market rates for parent fees. Effective January 1, 2023, the OGP requires participating regulated child care services (child care centres and family child care homes) to lower their rates to $10 per day for Infants, Toddlers, Preschoolers and Full-Day School-Age children. Child care services participating in the OGP are not permitted to surcharge parents above this rate. Further information on the Operating Grant Program can be found using the "Operating Grant Program" quick link in the sidebar.
